Folio is a typing-based communication aid. It does not include a picture-symbol library or a symbol grid — if the person you are supporting communicates with symbols rather than spelling, a symbol-based AAC app will serve them better.

Answers you can't say out loud

Ten fixed emergency phrases sit one tap from Talk. Underneath them, an optional medical card you fill in yourself — name, blood type, allergies, conditions and medication, an emergency contact — for the question a non-speaking person cannot answer. It stays on the device, it is never spoken aloud, and Folio never contacts anybody for you.

History you can actually use

Search everything you have said. Entries are grouped by day with the time, so "what did he ask for at lunch?" has an answer. Say any line again with one button, or save it straight into your phrases.

Prediction that learns you

A 14,981-word lexicon, plus the words and saved phrases you actually use. On supported devices Folio can add full-reply suggestions from Apple's on-device model. Nothing is inserted or spoken until you choose it.

Switch scanning, built in

Auto and step scanning across Talk and the emergency board, with adjustable timing, optional spoken highlights, a fatigue pause and a Stop control that is always reachable. Settings and phrase editing work with iOS Switch Control.

Hear a voice before you choose it

Every Apple voice installed on the device gets its own play button, so a voice can be auditioned without changing how you sound. Personal Voice is used wherever iOS supports it. Folio ships no voices of its own and never charges for one.

Made to be read

Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, a high-contrast setting, large touch targets, a Settings PIN, and an optional Atkinson Hyperlegible Next typeface for your message, phrases and emergency cards. It is off unless you turn it on.

Privacy by design

Useful without sharing a single word.

Phrase ranking, learned words, Conversation Mode and supported Apple on-device model suggestions all run on your device.

Folio has no account, ad network, analytics SDK or remote conversation-prediction service. Drafts, transcripts, history and medical information are not sent to KeenShift. Apart from Apple's own App Store purchase check, Folio makes no network requests at all.
